Ratzinger denunciò l’Agenda di Davos già nel 2000 Joseph Ratzinger – il 15 Marzo 2000 in una lezione ai seminaristi di Palermo:- Ci sono tentativi di costruire il futuro che assumono una configurazione sempre più definita, che va sotto il nome di Nuovo Ordine Mondiale. Trovano espressione sempre più evidente nell’ONU e nelle sue conferenze internazionali che lasciano trasparire una vera e propria filosofia del mondo nuovo. Questa filosofia non ha più il carattere utopico del Marxismo, al contrario fissa i limiti del benessere raccomandando ad esempio di non preoccuparsi della cura di coloro che non sono più produttivi. Questa filosofia non si aspetta che gli uomini siano pronti a fare sacrifici per raggiungere un benessere generale. Al contrario, propone strategie per ridurre il numero di commensali alla tavola dell’umanità affinché non venga intaccata la pretesa felicità di taluni. Il problema decisivo è la complessiva tenuta morale della società . Non si possono minimizzare gli scenari inquietanti per il futuro dell’uomo e i nuovi potenti strumenti che la cultura della morte ha a disposizione -.
